Most Rev Bishop Anthony (Tony) Randazzo

The Most Rev Bishop Anthony (Tony) Randazzo was born in Sydney, the son of Colin Randazzo from Sydney and his wife, Caterina, from Lipari, Italy. They worked as fruiterers in a family business at Bankstown until relocating to the Gold Coast in 1967. Bishop Randazzo was the third of four children.

Bishop Anthony was ordained a priest on 29 November 1991 at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Brisbane. From 1992 until 1994, he was a curate at St Mary’s Parish, Ipswich. From 1995 until 1997, Bishop Anthony served as Master of Ceremonies at the Cathedral, Brisbane. In 1998, Bishop Anthony was in Rome where he studied canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Upon his return to Brisbane in 2001, he was appointed pastor of Regina Caeli Parish, Cooparoo Heights. During this time, Bishop Anthony also served as Associate Judicial Vicar at the Regional Tribunal, and Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

In 2004, Bishop Anthony was called to Rome where he worked for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, for five years.

Bishop Anthony was Rector of the Holy Spirit Seminary in Queensland from 2009 until 2015.

In 2016, Bishop Anthony studied Sacred Scripture in Jerusalem.

In August 2016, he was consecrated a Bishop at St Mary's Cathedral by Bishop Anthony Fisher OP, along with Bishop Umbers.

Bishop Anthony is a supporter of the Canterbury Bulldogs.


Judges and counsel may robe in the Crypt from 8:30 am.

Morning tea will be served after Mass at Cathedral House.
